While there is not necessarily one all-encompassing “secret to success” there is The ONE Thing that – if you’ll do as Gary Keller and Jay Papasan advise in their recently-released book – you cannot help but achieve the success you desire, and enjoy your life a lot more as a result.
Gary Keller is a legend in the real estate profession. As the co-founder and Chairman of The Board of Keller Williams Realty, he built; he led his company from a single office in Austin, Texas to the largest real estate company in the U.S. and second in North America. (I got it just a bit wrong in the interview. My apologies.)
But, within the building process he realized a huge mistake he was making. It took him a lot of study but – with the help of his business coach – he discovered The ONE Thing he had to do; a small thing, but it would be The ONE Thing that would change everything. From that point on, his company’s growth was astounding and the joy he took in his work improved significantly.
Would you like to know what The ONE Thing is?
Then listen in…and enjoy this chat with Gary Keller.
Could it really be that simple? Can such a “small” thing make such a big difference?
That, you’ll need to answer for yourself. However, it’s been proven throughout history that it’s a truth that doesn’t fail.
The question is, how will you put The One Thing to work in your business?

Bob, I am afraid the one thing I have to do is stop coming to your blog.
You are just interviewing too many interesting people with extremely powerful ideas. My reading list is currently exceeding my capacity to get anything done.
Seriously, another great interview with you and Gary Keller and another book on my reading list.
Back to figuring out and doing my one thing.
Doug: Thank you. Hugely appreciate the compliment, my friend. So glad you enjoyed the interview, and Gary’s wisdom! And, I hear ya’ regarding the reading list. I’m looking at a whole ton of books on my desk that I REALLY want to get to. So many books…so little time! 🙂
That is so true. I am working at my “exit strategy” along my full time job and the only thing that keeps me calm is knowing that each day I MUSTdo one thing each – sell new customers for my day job and make new contacts for my business. Everything else can wait or won’t matter long term.
I also loved what he said about finding balance with work, family, and sleep. 8,8, and 8. Done. 🙂
Angela: Thank you. So glad you enjoyed the chat and received such great value from Gary’s wisdom. Sounds like you’re already putting it to use in your life. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Bob for another informative and inspiring interview. You could feel great energy and excitement from Gary, which I am sure was “The One Thing”!
Wow, informative and interesting. I can’t wait to get this book.
Wendy: Terrific! So glad you enjoyed it. I have a feeling you’ll really love Gary and Jay’s new book!
Bob, I love the way Gary shared his one thing, per each individual person in his life.
Jim: Thank you for sharing that great observation. Yes, very inspiring – isn’t it terrific how he loves to teach! Can indeed feel the energy and excitement!
Amy: I know, that was VERY cool, wasn’t it!? Enjoyed that a lot! Thank you for sharing that with us!
WOW – What GREAT advice!!! ‘ll pinn that question to my computer!!!!!! Makes things much more simple – maybe not easy, but simple – get pinned the most important thing in a certain area! Thank’s Bob 🙂
Another great interview. I have read Gary’s book and it is terrific! I posted a book review on http://www.ReadForAchange.com. Highly recommend purchasing the book for your children, your team, or your employees. You and they will not regret it.
Jim: Thank you. Greatly appreciated. And, I certainly agree with you regarding Gary’s book! Thank you for sharing with us!
Lene: Awesome idea. It’s great to be able to come back to constantly and consistently! Thank you for sharing with us!
🙂 🙂 🙂 Pleasure as usual Bob!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have “The Law of Influence pinned on my computer too 🙂 🙂 🙂
Love it brother Bob. Thanks so very much for this interview. Total validation for the idea of always looking for the thing that will lead to the best return on investment of time. I’ll be listening to this one again 🙂
Thanks for you do to help folks be awesome!
Brother Josh: Thank YOU. Indeed, I thought he made such a terrific point!
Took some time and listen to this full audio while I was getting ready. ( you can’t do two effective things at once) I didn’t know dominos were so powerful and produce that much energy. But if it’s over a million of them then it makes sense. That was a funny story about his mom preparing the whole week to play him. This question is something I can assimilate into my daily activities, especially when Im not sure what I should do first or last. I can just repeat this over and over until I find an answer.
Michael: Great thought process. And, yes, that “chasing two rabbits” thing is usually quite counterproductive! 🙂
Thanks Bob, I really enjoyed your interview with Gary. Quite educative!
AS: My pleasure. Thank YOU.
Wow Bob, you’ve done it again. Thanks so much for these amazing interviews!
Awww, thank you, Lene! 🙂
I have to admit, hearing that I only need to do one thing at a time released some stress. I always feel like if I am not doing 5 things at one time I am being unproductive and lazy. Hearing that taking on one thing at a time effectively is one of the best things I can do for my business, makes everything else less overwhelming. Thank you for the great interview Bob and Gary 🙂
Christie: Thank YOU. It often does seem like we should be doing a bunch of things at once, doesn’t it? I really appreciated how Gary explained how much more productive it is to focus on just ONE thing. So glad you enjoyed the interview!
Mark: What a very kind comment. Thank YOU. I’m so glad you are enjoying them!
What a powerful interview. Channeling energy, setting things in motion, choosing that 1 thing to ensure effectiveness at a given time….simply amazing! The idea of multitasking is a myth. So much salient points to consider and apply to the various aspects of our existence.
Arvin: Very glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed your recap. Great points! Thank you for sharing with us!
Not another book… Can only echo Doug Wagner’s thoughts. My reading pile will have to come play with yours, its another neglected goldmine 🙂 Thank you fro taking time to do and share this great interview.
Anthony: LOL. I appreciate that. What a cool job I have in that I get to read and study all of these great books in order to interview amazing authors such as Gary! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
Great interview and reminder. Used City Slicker “one thing” video in 7 Habits facilitation years ago. Love the idea that the “one thing” is that which makes everything else easier or unnecessary. Thanks for sharing.
Tom: Thank you for sharing that with us. Indeed, great application!
The mp3 is down! 🙁
