He happens to be one of the most brilliant marketers (though, he would use the term, “unmarketer”) I’ve ever met. His first book, Unmarketing was one of the best on the topic I’ve ever read.
His newest is actually two books in one. On the front it’s entitled, The Book of Business Awesome and on the back, it’s The Book of Business UnAwesome.
Yep, leave it to Scott. 🙂
Contained in this easy, entertaining but very powerful read are valuable lessons regarding how businesses can be hurt or helped by their actions online and off. Included are examples from the world of marketing, branding, human resources, public relations, social media and customer service.
One lesson that runs throughout the book — and one reason why I believe the teachings are so valuable to everyone from the corporate CEO to the one-person business — is that it isn’t companies that are awesome (or un-awesome), but people who are such. Some of the examples are mind-blowing both positively and negatively.
So, enjoy this chat with the totally Awesome Scott Stratten.
What was the main takeaway you gained from Scott during this discussion? Is it something you can apply right away?

Good Afternoon Bob:
Scott leads the industry in helping influence us to not only project an image, but to BE the image!
We as a company have to “walk our talk.”
We all must be careful on how we use the virtual world to project our image; because image is more than a funny quote or whimsical photo. We need to take out image seriously, yet humbly.
Character is full of the personality of a products owner.

Jeff: Thank you. So glad you enjoyed it. I know that you and your viewers will have a great time with Scott on your show!
Karen: Indeed, yes, great description of what Scott does. And all your points are very valid. Thank you for sharing with us!
Bob…,
“IT” just keeps getting better…!! From your Florida conference, to the Scott Stratten
interview.., this “profession” of ‘selling’ that I have “loved and studied, honored and cherished,
served and been blessed by”; seems ever ready to “re-create itself” in the minds and souls of
“new and exciting” personalities, sharing incredible ‘previously un-known’ knowledge. As for my
radio show (over a dozen years) and various television series.., people such as Scott are THE
REASON my programs exist..
Bob, your ‘exploring’/vetting, introducing, and exposing not only ME, but ‘thousands of like-minded souls’ to the “creative process” in Scott, and so many others, has been the ‘almost-best’ 65th birthday present I could ever imagine..
{The BEST was my 1st Grand Baby…, SYDNEY.., and nothing beats her..!!}
I continue to believe that we.., as part of a chain stretching from the first humans interacting with each other; to the millions of ‘cyber’ exchanges in every minute of every day.., are following a
‘sacred journey’ that was ‘created’ for us by a ‘Power’ that saw the NEED FOR PURPOSE in each of our lives…
One to one, each day.., with purpose of giving and sharing, a new ‘special blessing’ as
the unique exchange for that day.., and that moment in time.., we justify our lives..
Thanks Bob.., not only from me.., but from all of our “co-travelers” on this Journey called Life..

Jim: Thank you. What a very kind and complimentary note. Very appreciated! And, yep, no doubt that Sydney is tops!! 🙂
GREAT interview Bob! You are both AWESOME 😉
I’ll definately get that book!!!!!
3 things stuck with me, that I definately believe in. “If you laugh you learn”, SO true. Learning and teaching must be fun, how else can you be enthusiastic about something if it isn’t fun. This I can use in my cources!
“Relationships are not a strategy” GOSH love that! Off course it is not. If you think it is – it’s not a relationship, but something else. There is a hidden agenda then, and you are lying, it’s fake.
“people want to forgive” – LOVE that too. It’s so true. In those situations you also learn more about your relationships, than when everything is going just GREAT!
Thank’s Bob & Scott 🙂
Lene: WOW – thank YOU, my friend. What awesome feedback!
Bob,
As you know there are many, many, many things we can read, listen and view. Your work is one of my filters. If you are sending something out, I’m paying attention! This is no exception.
And, by the way it gave me hope that my sarcasm might be accepted by others!
Peace,
Marty
Marty: What a terrific compliment. Thank you so much!
