On his Facebook wall, my great friend, Joe Vizi, owner (with lovely wife, Renee) of Concord, Georgia based Eco-Scrub Carpet & Floor Care posted the following awesome statement:
“Today I will be thankful for the parking spot furthest from the door;
because it means that I can walk!”
WOW! Sure, we often speak of gratitude in this blog.
What I love about what Joe wrote, however, is his excellent re-frame. He is not being grateful for a good break or even something self-evident, such as the many blessings we are given just by being able to walk, talk, see, hear, taste, touch, smell, etc.
No, he’s determined to be grateful — in advance! — for something that might happen that most would not choose to be grateful for but, instead, would tend to resent or allow to upset them.
Gotta’ love it. Well, you don’t gotta’…but it sure seems like the better alternative. 🙂
So, tapping into your creative self, what can you choose to be grateful for that otherwise might be upsetting?

I am truly blessed to have great friends like you.

I try every day to give gratitude for being a cancer survivor. I’m grateful it was found early and that I had great doctors treating me. Unfortunately not everybody can say that.
True Bob…… Most of the times, the problems is just the way we look at situation and not situation itself….
Today, I will be thankful that I have to clean my home, because I have a home that I love and enjoy!
I agree, Gaurav!
Liz, that’s awesome! Thank you!
Joe, the blessing is mine, my brother!
LOVE THIS! Thank you Bob and Joe!
I’m sure you can see why Joe is one of my favorite people to have in a mastermind. He brings that perspective, attitude and humor to the whole experience! He totally gets the “it’s all in how you tell the story,”
To not have freedom and then to gain it, makes every sweet experience extraordinary. For this I am Grateful and will forever be a creator of extraordinary moments in peoples life’s.
🙂
Joel, definitely, my friend!
Dondi, thank YOU!
Dixie, yes he does and yes, I can totally see why he’s one of your favorites!
Amy, that’s awesome!
I’m grateful for difficult/picky customers. They help us refine our service to be the best it can be.
I love it, David. That’s awesome!
Great, Bob and Joe ! I try and start every day with Gratitude. It is the key to a happy life.
I have read many times and try to share with people, especially when feeling down, upset, or that life is unfair; Just think of something simple to be grateful for. car, bed, house, and like Joe said, We can walk ! Amazing and simple. We just need to do it !
Thanks again guys.
Al
Thank you, Al!
I am grateful for the mounds of laundry on my floor because each piece of clothing is worn by treasures great and small and their dirty laundry is well worth their presence in my life!
Wow – very powerful, Jody! Thank you!
I am grateful when my dog barks at night. Even though it wakes me up, it means he’s keeping predators away from my other animals and thieves away from my home!
I just jammed my toe on Tut Tut’s highchair. So grateful that a highchair is in my kitchen….looking forward to Christmas with him. We are teaching him to call me Auntie A, but I’m old enough to be Granny. 🙂
James, what a great way to see it. And, what a good pup! Thank you for sharing!
Amy, that’s a definite ouch. I love how you see it with gratitude, though. Thank you!
