Well, this past weekend was certainly a special one. Paul Martinelli and I hosted The Big Event in West Palm Beach, FL, which brought together speakers including Carrie Wilkerson, Dr. John Maxwell, Randy Gage and Les Brown. Each speaker, including Paul, was magnificent and shared wisdom and information that led to many – what could be called – “Aha! Moments.”
These are the phrases that make you stop, think, and perhaps intuitively feel…”yes, that’s right. That’s exactly right! That’s just what I needed to hear/know/learn/relearn. And, more importantly, what I’m going to work at making a part of my ongoing thought-process.”
I had several. Allow me to share one. Dr. Maxwell discussed stepping outside your comfort zone, but not outside your gift zone. For me, the Aha! was understanding that when when you step outside your comfort zone you will grow. However, if you step outside you gift zone, you will most likely not achieve your goal. And, you’ll be unhappy and unfulfilled.
Now, I’d read that from Dr. Maxwell before, but something about hearing him relate this live and in person seemed to really bring it home for me.
What was extremely cool to me was how many others in attendance shared their Aha Moments, or at least shared that they had one (or more).
So, if you were at the event, would you please share yours?
And, if you were not at the event, would you share one you’ve had somewhere else?

I had several also, but as I shared with you on Sat, the one I circled, underlined and highlighted came towards the end of the event, and it came from you! (I’m sure that would qualify as a run-on sentence)
KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT ACTION IS LIKE HAVING NO KNOWLEDGE AT ALL
I better get moving! Thanks again for The BEST Event ever!
Wow, there were so many. Here’s a couple:
People change for 3 reasons (Maxwell)
1. Because they hurt enough they have to (80% of)
2. Because they learn enough they want to
3. Because they receive enough they are able to
Also from Maxwell–make sure your not asking someone to sponsor your dream
From Randy Gage–your reality and your dream are like two thumbs bound like a rubber band. The thumb with the dream needs to be big enough to pull your reality to it
From Les Brown–your story is your key element in making a difference in other peoples lives
There’s more from Paul and Bob and Carrie, but I’ll stop here.
It was a weekend Filled with A-Ha’s! I loved every minute of the wonderful weekend with you and all the amazing speakers you brought together! I was looking over all my notes and creating an action plan on the plane last night. I made a list os my favorite quote from each speaker:
“Just because you’re the best person for the job doesn’t mean you should do it” (re: all the stuff that needs to be done in your business.. het help, build a team, outsource!) and “Get over yourself!” ~Carrie Wilkerson
“The more valid reasons you have to achieve your dream (goal) the greater the odds are that you will!” ~John C. Maxwell
“Doesn’t matter how many chapters of ‘your’ book have been written so far… you can still change the ending (direction) ~ Randy Gage
“In order to become someone you want to be, you have to be someone you haven’t been” and “You have to create an experience for people!” ~Les Brown
“If you do not like the hand you have been dealt, throw your cards back in and become the dealer of your own hand (life)” and “What is the goal behind the goal?” ~ Paul Martinelli
“Shift your focus from getting to giving!” and “Your product or service is not what the sale is about, it is about what they get (the result) from the sale” ~ Bob Burg
Many many a-ha’s but one that comes to mind first is the idea of 13 traits, each having a focus for 1 week and then doing that same 13 again 3 more times to make up 52 weeks. I started a list on the plane of different traits than the 13 you shared Bob, things like, courage, focus, determination, singleness of purpose, unconditional acts of kindness, .. etc.
Thank you for an outstanding event, which brought together a truly inspirational group of people, both on stage as well as in the stands!! You are a very lovely man whom I deeply appreciate and adore!!

My aha moment came on the plane yesterday. The gentleman next to me had asked what I do in Phoenix. The whole weekend I had been going over all the amazing things I heard at the event and I finally said to him…I coach Realtors! which I currently don’t but realized right there that that was where I wanted to be. I started feverishly writing everything I could think of to get moving forward. I didn’t want to plane to land as quickly as it did becuase I was so engrossed. The combination of speakers was so amazing that I took my highlights from everyone and created the beginning of my plan…I can not wait to see what develops!!!!!!
Although I am quite versed in the theology of prosperity, I found this statement invigorating … “How much abundance can I stand for today?” ~ Randy Gage
In the past, in particular when I was young, I looked for shortcuts never realizing the outcome and the impact of my choice and how the turn of events created adversity … “If you do what is easy, your life will be hard; but, if you do what is hard, your life will be easy”. ~ Les Brown

Picking out any one “Aha” from such a glorious event almost does a disservice to the excellent panel of speakers. So, I will pass on commenting on any one thing I heard from the stage, but instead comment on what I saw from all of your speakers. To a person, the way they handled themselves off-stage was as impressive as what they said on-stage.
I am a big believer that “Wannabe Stars talk. Stars walk their talk. And Super Stars let their walk be their talk.”
The walk I saw from you and other Super Stars throughout the event spoke to me as clearly as all the wonderful things said from the stage.
Again, congratulations to you and Paul for a great event.
Woops.. my email was incorrect, was looking to see why my gravatar was missining. Thank you!
Bob – thanks for this reminder to stay in our gift zone as we’re pushing our comfort zone. Powerful concept.
Wanted to thank all of you for sharing your Aha! moments. I wasn’t able to attend the Big Event and you’ve given me such a gift.
Dave — have never heard your statement that “Wannabe Stars talk. Stars walk their talk. And Super Stars let their walk be their talk.” Love this! Thanks.
And to share my latest aha…heard this from Tom Peters on twitter today: The attitude you bring to work (or home) today is the ultimate expression of “free will.”
My Aha! from the event came during a 5pm conference call (you might know who else was on that call). I’m still devouring my notes and I’m sure there’ll be more…
While I wish it was as easy as “Just do it”, I have to stop “Just”ifying. It’s my goal to remove the word “just” from my vocabulary and replace it with tangible action words that inspire progress.
Thank you for an outstanding event! It was an honor to serve the speakers, staff, and especially the attendees.
Thanks so much for the amazing event, my purpose for being there was to support the Young Entrepreneurs. I was their “personal paparazzi” I captured the moments that will change their lives. I am so grateful to Kathy Zader along with the organization and also Julie Larson who drove 3,000 miles with the young entrepreneurs, Michael, Jonathan, Derick and Tyler and Danielle in her cutout form. Our mission as adults is to guide the younger generations that will follow us. They are our hope for a prosperous tomorrow. My aha moment came with the quote from Les Brown – “You can’t see the picture because you are in the frame” As a photographer, this one hit me – sometimes we live so much in the “frame” of how we see our life, that we don’t look outside the frame to see what we may be missing. I could go on and on with quotes, I am very happy to have met Bob and to really hear the Go Giver story. I am reading the Go Giver over again.
Thanks to all and I look forward to sharing positive energy for all that we accomplish collectively and individually.
Blessings of Peace to all ~

I’m with Mollie, while I couldn’t be there, this is truly the next best thing. Thanks for sharing the wisdom, the wit, and the world!
Hi Bob,
Congratulations on another great event. My biggest take-a-way from the weekend was Les Brown’s presentation on how to use your story in your presentations. I am speaking this weekend in front of 6000 people in NYC and will be incorporating his suggestions in my presentation.
You are a true Go-Giver in every sense of the word. Thanks for all you do!
Todd
I’m loving all of your comments. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Hi Bob,
Sounds like a wonderful event. I had an aha moment 2 weeks ago which I wrote about in my blog.
I don’t want to be disappointed. Those words were spoken to me this week by someone who was waiting for a business deal to come through. They shared their dilemma and I suggested they just “see the deal as done, visualizing what they want in their life.”
Their response: “I’m a positive person but, I can’t. “I don’t want to be disappointed. I don’t want to get my hopes up.”
I had nothing to say to them. I knew their mind was completely made up.
I realized they were protecting themselves from the pain of disappointment. Their motivation: FEAR. The FEAR of disappointment was greater than their desire to get what they want.
It was an aha moment for me to see how we protect ourselves from any discomfort by not reaching for what we really want in life.
It reminded me to keep reaching for and seeing what I want in my life.

Many of the wonderful thoughts from the speakers that are quoted above truly resonate for me.
Yet I think the real ah-ha from me from this wonderful weekend is that at the core of our being, in the deepest place of our soul, there is something big in each person that is ready for expression. Talking with people and hearing them talk about their dreams, their goals, their businesses, and their passions was a big joy this weekend. I am so excited for all of us. We have such an opportunity to make a positive impact on the world–each in our own unique way.
I know that this weekend was truly a catalyst for each person to take action steps toward those dreams, and to meet supporters to help them cheer them on.
I got lots of inspiration to move forward with the new segment I’m adding to my business. It’s gonna be a great year!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! For those of us that weren’t able to attend this amazing event, I feel like I had a front row seat because of reading the comments posted above. It is also great to hear the different perspectives on similar moments. I’m taking notes on their notes!
Bob, your moment is great. When discussing comfort zones, I don’t think I have heard it coupled with your gift. Often talent is not necessary, but gifting? That is something to ponder!
Kudos on a tremendous turn out!
