Years ago, a brilliant visionary said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
Those famous words, spoken by Mr. Zig Ziglar have been repeated so many times throughout the years they’ve almost become a battle cry for those who desire to add great value to their world while living a life of abundance.
It’s difficult for me to imagine two things:
- A saying that could be a greater example and finer embodiment of The Go-Giver philosophy and…
- A bigger thrill for both John David Mann and me than having the opportunity to present Mr. Ziglar with the First Annual Go-Giver Lifetime Achievement Award.
This we had the honor of doing last Friday at Thom Scott’s and my 4th annual Extreme Business Makeovers event in Orlando, FL.
Halfway through Zig’s appearance — as he was sitting between his lovely wife, Jean (“The Redhead”) and his son, Tom (CEO of Ziglar) — John came up on stage and together we presented the 83 year old legend with an engraved crystal bowl…and our extreme thanks!
Zig Ziglar; a great man, a true Go-Giver!

It was such a privilege to meet Zig Ziglar and his wife, Jean, at the Extreme Business Makeovers event, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the Go-Giver Lifetime Achievement Award.
Thank you Bob and Thom for putting together such an extraordinary event!
EXCELLENT choice for the FIRST Go-Giver Lifetime Achievement Award!
I quote Zig Ziglar so often that sometimes I forget to credit him. Sorry about that Mr. Ziglar.
One of my favorites is, ““If you treat your wife like a thoroughbred, you’ll never end up with a nag.” Husbands… just sit with that one awhile.
Truly amazing man filled with wisdom & passion. One of these rare moments in life where you can honestly say, your life is gonna change dramatically. Time to “shift baby shift” and Zig helped us all truly see what’s important in life.
Thank you Bob & Thom, for making this happen, what an unforgettable experience.
Hi Bob,
It was great to see Zig at your event. Here are my take-a-ways from his comments. (1) Encouragement is the fuel that makes hope run. (2) When your word is no good, neither are you. (3) Shut out the bad news from your life. (4) He refuses to remember failures. (5) God created man and knew He could do better, so He created woman. 🙂
I am also honoring my wife each day as he does his.
Thanks for your leadership!
Todd
Thank you, everyone, for your kind and terrific comments!!
Bob, My dad (a business man and minister) has given me Zig Ziglars books to read all my life. It was such a gift for me to be able to meet him and his wife, Jean. (His wife most encouraging to me, a wife of an entrepreneur 😉 ) Thank you for the opportunity, and making an event that is as much encouraging on a personal life level as a business level. Ben and I are blessed to know you and Thom.
Wow, what an honor you and what a great post and wonderful comments I’m reading here. Thank you for reminding me to help other people get what they want. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of thinking of one’s goals and forgetting others’.
Sean, wow, ‘thoroughbred,’ I like that.
Todd, thanks for sharing.
